Eric M. Boone will head the Hartford Parking Authority, replacing Mark McGovern, the authority has announced.

Boone worked previously as a senior project manager at Westinghouse Electric Co. in Windsor.

"Eric Boone has a remarkable combination of management experience and collaboration skills that will enable him to take this organization to the next level of continuous improvement," said Paddi LeShane, chairwoman of the parking authority's board of commissioners.

"His background is somewhat nontraditional in the parking business, but we were so impressed by his dynamic approach and how he'll bring a strategic, global perspective to HPA."

Carey E. Redd, who has served as the authority's interim chief executive officer since June, will be an associate director, reporting to Boone, officials said.

Boone has a master's degree in of business administration from Arizona State University and a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy.

He served as a Navy lieutenant from 2002 to 2007.

McGovern, who worked as CEO of the parking authority since 2010, left to take a job as community services director for the town of West Hartford. He started in his new position July 1.

McGovern has served in various capacities for the city, including as deputy director of development services and director of economic development.

He also was deputy director and acting executive director of the Hartford Economic Development Commission.
