The Odd Couple Making Things Work Out "Even"

Northend Agent's

December 31, 2008

Kelvin Moore and Devone Pollard met at the intersection between physical fitness and nutrition. Both are personal trainers and while working out one day they struck up a conversation about life in general and what their goals were. How ironic that their paths would cross and as odd as they thought they might have been their lives seemed to be destined to collide for the positive. Kelvin works as a case manager for the STRIVE/SAND Program in Hartford which helps people from the community at large prepare to both get and maintain a job along with other key components to the program. His primary role is dealing with a majority of the participants who are ex-offenders and helping them prepare for their transition into the next phase of life.

Devone, who is a personal trainer, certified instructor for trainers and Master's division overall champion in bodybuilding has come through some of the same ranks to achieve his dream and vision in life. He is also presently training to win his pro card in bodybuilding. Both are competitors on stage and off and how odd it was to connect as they have. Devone, who once was on the other side of the wall and incarcerated in various institutions along the East coast has risen to the occasion and is now a proud business owner, father and advocate for many who traveled the same path. He also has a heart for kids and that's one of the first things that comes across when you meet him.

The oddity of their paths based on their past and background comes together evenly when you look at their now. Both are advocates for men and woman incarcerated, both have a passion for children, both instruct others on how to be physically and spiritually balanced and the two in a very short period of time have become business partners within their passion. Kelvin is also a former now retired juvenile justice/DCF supervisor and has worked in community service with youth for over two decades. It's so refreshing to see that their are some positive stories regarding those who have been incarcerated. To know your past does not dictate your present neither your future. Devone has also developed through his business "on line" training. Something that is unique and 21st century for athlete to the stay at home mom. It's been said never judge a book by its cover nor its pages! For more information on Physical Designs you can contact Devone at www.physicaldesigns.org.
