Hartford Housing Authority Names Acting Executive Director

HARTFORD — — The Hartford Housing Authority has appointed Annette Sanderson as its acting executive director, effective Friday.

Sanderson, a lawyer who has served as the agency's general counsel, succeeds Alan Green, who resigned for health reasons after a 4 1/2-year tenure as head of the authority.

Housing Authority Board Chairwoman Marilyn Rossetti said in a statement Friday that because of Sanderson's close working relationship with Green, the board believed "she is the absolute right person to successfully complete the important initiatives underway. She has the complete trust and support of the board to move this organization forward."

Rossetti added that the authority will decide later whether to conduct a formal search.

Sanderson, who was executive director of the Capital City Economic Development Authority from 2005 to 2007, was unavailable for comment.

Green, 66, grew up in Hartford public housing and over the past few years helped oversee the redevelopment of the Dutch Point, Stowe Village and Charter Oak housing complexes. The authority also began demolition of Nelton Court in October, another major redevelopment project in the city.

But Green suffered from health issues that caused him to periodically take leave from his job, most recently in January. "Attention to my health and family have become a prime consideration," Green wrote in his resignation letter dated last week.
