Kupiec Will Be Chief Of Staff, Not Campaign Manager

By Jenna Carlesso

December 14, 2010

There was talk recently that Jared Kupiec, who was Ned Lamont's deputy campaign manager during his failed bid for governor, would be Mayor Pedro Segarra's campaign manager for the upcoming 2011 mayoral election. The mayor said today that although he considered Kupiec for the position, he ultimately decided to hire him as chief of staff instead.

Segarra said Kupiec, 27, will not serve dual roles, rather, just work as his chief of staff.

"He will not be involved in any type of role in my campaign," the mayor said. "My campaign will be my campaign; my city hall operations will be my city hall operations."

Segarra said he is interviewing several people interested in the campaign manager job, but has not yet named anyone to the position.
