Segarra To Lead City Council

Jeffrey B. Cohen

December 10, 2009

As Cityline reported last month, the two-year leadership term for Council President Calixto Torres is nearing its end, and the council's Democrats have chosen Councilman Pedro Segarra to take his place.

Below is a PDF of a resolution before the council at its meeting next week that names Segarra, a Democrat the council president. It also names Councilman Luis Cotto, of the Working Families Party, as its Minority Leader -- replacing Councilman Larry Deutsch. Democrat rJo Winch will continue as the council's Democratic majority leader, and Democratic Councilman Jim Boucher will serve as assistant majority leader.

All terms end Jan. 1, 2012.
