The Hartford Republican Town Committee is recommending three candidates to fill Veronica Airey-Wilson's seat on the city council. Airey-Wilson has applied for a voluntary retirement incentive program. Her last day will be Dec. 31.

The town committee held a special meeting Tuesday to hear from eight people interested in the seat. Members then voted for their favorite candidates. The top three vote-getters were Steven Bonafonte, a lawyer for Travelers insurance (with 6 votes), Corey Brinson, Airey-Wilson's nephew, who ran unsuccessfully for secretary of the state in the last primary election (with 5 votes), and John O'Connell, a former city council member (with 2 votes). Town committee Chairman Michael McGarry said O'Connell does not intend to run for the seat, rather, he was using the opportunity to express his views on certain Hartford issues.

McGarry said he will forward the resumes of the top three vote-getters to the city council today. You can check out Bonafonte and Brinson's resumes here:

O'Connell's resume was not available.
