Endorsed BOE Candidates Will Have Company on the Ballot

By Steve Goode

August 10, 2009

The Democratic and Republican party-endorsed candidates vying for four seats on the Hartford Board of Education will have some company on the ballot in November, including Elizabeth Brad Noel, a current Democratic school board member who was not re-endorsed.

Noel and Inez Duke Pegeas handed in the necessary number of signatures earlier this week and will be placed on the ballot as petitioning candidates. Their party affiliation will not be listed on the ballot, but the party affiliations of Mary Storey, Lillanya Gray, Harry Colon and Zoraida Perez will be. That's because they are members of the Parents Choice Party.

City clerk Dan Carey will still have to make room for one or more candidates from the Working Families Party, which has yet to decide on its slate.
