Panagore To Stop Acting

By Jeffrey B. Cohen

July 13, 2009

David Panagore sure can make an impression.

Because in less than two weeks as the city's acting chief operating officer, he sealed the deal. Tonight, the city council will entertain a resolution to take out the "acting" and make his appointment permanent.

"Mayor Perez feels Mr. Panagore is the right person in the right place at the right time," said Sarah Barr, spokeswoman for Mayor Eddie A. Perez, in an email. Panagore - who has public administration and law degrees - has "a wealth of knowledge on the issues that face Hartford."

He's also, apparently, a good multi-tasker.

Panagore, who came to the city last fall to run the Department of Development Services, will continue in that role.

"Even with the title change, he will continue to lead Development Services, for the time being," Barr said.
