UPDATE: The coalition's six unions have offered a mix of wage deferrals, furlough days, and increased health costs in exchange for contract guarantees and a pledge of no layoffs. The letter to the mayor and the proposal is available in the "related links" box.

The city cut $3.2 million out of the salaries and benefits of the city's workers when it approved its budget on Sunday. Without concessions, layoffs could be needed to find the money.

But this morning the unions say they will be delivering their savings plan to Mayor Eddie A. Perez. The press release available in the "related links" box. More to come.
