The (former) Mayor Was In The House

By Steve Goode

October 28, 2010

Disgraced former Hartford Mayor Eddie A. Perez made a rare public appearance this morning at the SAND America's Choice School for Superintendent of Schools Steven Adamowski's final state of the schools address.

Perez, who was convicted in June on corruption charges and has filed an appeal, stood outside the entrance to the auditorium shaking hands and hugging other visitors, including currrent Mayor Pedro Segarra.

Segarra and several others in their remarks about the improving state of the city's schools made a point to single out Perez, who served for a time as chair of the board of education, for his dedication early reform efforts, including his effort to bring Adamwoski on board and his choice of fellow board members to support Adamowski's vision.
