Nineteen seniors from Hartford's three public high schools have been named Fox Foundation Scholars.

The students were to be awarded $12,000 scholarships during a breakfast ceremony this morning at the Town and County Club.

The foundation was established by Lewis Fox - a Hartford Public High School graduate, local lawyer and school board member - as a memorial to his father, Jacob L. Fox. The scholarships have been awarded since 1937.

The scholars were selected by foundation trustees based on academic achievement, leadership, character, concern for others and a spirit of reverence.
