By clicking on the boxes next to Attendance Data, Asylum Hill and Grade 5 and clicking View Data (as shown below).

you will see the data displayed below:

To interpret these findings, we can say that:

  • The average attendance for all children who lived in Asylum Hill and were in the 5th grade in the Hartford Public Schools during the 2003-2004 school year is 94.6 percent
  • The average percentage of excused absences for these same children is .2 percent (less than 1 percent).
  • The average percentage of in-school suspensions is .022 percent (much less than 1 percent).
  • The average percentage of out-of-school suspensions is .428 percent (a little less than half of a percent).
  • The average percentage of unexcused absences is 4.75 percent.
  • For children who had one or more in-school suspensions who live in Asylum Hill and were in the 5th grade during the 2003-2004 school year, the average percentage of in-school suspensions is not reported, because there were 5 or fewer children in this category.
  • The average percentage of the 5th graders who had one or more out-of-school suspensions in Asylum Hill during the 2003-2004 school year is 2.947 percentage.
  • Fifth graders who had one or more unexcused absences, were absent 5.64 percent of the time on average.
  • The number of 5th graders attending any Hartford Public School and living in Asylum Hill during the 2003-2004 school year was 124.

These data do not represent the average attendance, average absences (unexcused or excused), in-school suspensions or out-of-school for children attending schools that are in Asylum Hill.  They do not represent the average day or the average school.  They are averages over the entire year.

Percentages are used so as to accurately reflect attendance of students who were enrolled for only part of the year.
